It’s safe to say the world hasn’t been in the best state this year, with many challenging times for us all. To bring some joy back into my life, I took to the outdoors for some much-needed excitement. And I loved every moment!
Washington State has ample opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts to have adventures. With its easy access to lakes, rivers, and the Pacific ocean, you can enjoy year-round activities no matter your experience. My favorites include kayaking and (of course) stand-up paddle boarding. Here I am sharing with you some ultimate SUP Spots In Washington State...
The ultimate SUP for SUP Spots in Washington State
Luckily for me, I had just gotten the new inflatable stand-up paddleboard from Bluefin SUPs right before our world got turned upside down. This allowed me to escape to places I normally wouldn’t have been able to explore.
One of the best features about my Bluefin SUP is that it comes with a seat and two-sided paddle. As a result, it can be easily transformed into a kayak depending on what kind of adventure you’re in the mood for.
I found myself using the kayak more on rivers, and the regular SUP on lakes. It’s so nice to have that option!
Lake Chelan
As the largest lake in the state, there are a bunch of spots here to SUP or kayak. You could head to the more popular Lake Chelan State Park, or one of the free-access beach areas in Chelan.
But if you’re looking to really get off the beaten path, then a trip to Stehekin is a MUST. It’s simply stunning, but only accessible via boat, helicopter, or hiking. I found the easiest way to get there is via the Lady of the Lake passenger ferry. It leaves Chelan with a regular service to Stehekin.
I bought my Bluefin SUP with me on this adventure. It packs up so nicely in the included backpack, and I found many boat-in campsites to stay at along the lake.
Diablo Lake
Located in North Cascades National Park, Diablo is one of my favorite lakes in Washington. It’s majestic views and turquoise blue water are breath-taking.
If you access the lake right off the North Cascades Highway, you’re in a prime put-in location for your SUP or kayak. There are also numerous boat-in and camping opportunities on the lake for you to stay at.
If you’re making the trip, you should also visit Ross Lake – easily accessible by portaging from Diablo Lake.
Lake Wenatchee
About an hour north of Leavenworth, you’ll find this gorgeous lake in the Wenatchee National Forest on the eastern side of the Cascades Mountains. Whether you want to relax on the beach, swim, or explore the small island on your Bluefin SUP, it’s a beautiful place to enjoy on a hot summer’s day.
To access the lake, there’s a $10/day parking fee – or you can get a Discover Pass for $30/year. This allows you to visit any Washington State Park year-round.
Alder Lake
A 7-mile reservoir on the Nisqually River, this is a great place to visit with your SUP. You’ll find a campground, beach area, and boat ramp.
I was initially drawn to Alder Lake after seeing its beautiful turquoise water and views of Mount Rainier peeking up over the mountains. Located about an hour and a half south of Seattle, you can get here in just 30 minutes from Mount Rainier National Park.
With so many outdoor adventures to be had, I highly recommend getting yourself a Bluefin SUP. The brilliant features do all the talking, and it will bring you amazing memories for years to come.
