Overview

The Bluefin Cruise is one of the company's most popular inflatable boards from England. Bluefin is a player that has been active in the SUP business for many years. This experience is reflected in the Cruise. Here, we tested the 10.8 Allround version. Bluefin also offers many other inflatable variants, such as the Bluefin Rogue 12.6 (Read the test here), which is more suited to the touring category. The Cruise Allround version is particularly popular because it offers beginners easy handling both on land and on the water and is sold as a complete set. Here, we tested the classic blue version of the Bluefin SUP. However, the board is also available in many other colours. In this detailed review of the Bluefin Cruise 10.8, we write about our experiences with the board and accessories.

Bluefin has only changed the Cruise minimally over the years, while continuing to optimise and adapt it.

Overview of advantages and disadvantages

Advantages

  • excellent build quality
  • best handling, also for SUP beginners
  • wide standing area (approx. 81 cm)
  • high stability
  • low board weight (only 9.9 kg)
  • kick pad
  • complete set with extensive accessories

Disadvantages

  • basic aluminium paddle
  • backpack has no wheels

Board shape and classification

With an overall length of approx. 325 cm, the Bluefin Cruise can be classified as an all-rounder. The standing area is approx. 81 cm wide at its widest point, making it easy to handle even for beginners. The board thickness is approx. 15 cm (6″), meaning that the SUP is also suitable for heavier paddlers (over 100 kg). An all-rounder offers balanced handling characteristics and is therefore ideally suited to a wide range of uses.

Construction, material and weight

The Bluefin SUP is constructed using Double Layer Fusion construction (Exo Surface Laminate). This involves thermally bonding two layers of PVC together, increasing robustness and durability. Bluefin offers a 5-year warranty on the inflatable board. An extra layer of PVC is bonded to the sides of the board, further increasing its robustness in this area. Thanks to the Fusion construction, the board weighs just 9.91 kg (with fin), despite its extensive features. This makes it easier to carry on land and also easier to slow down and steer on the water.

More information on inflatable stand-up paddle boards and how they are constructed can be found in our other articles. These also describe the differences in construction and the individual layersfrom the inside out in detail. Where does the stiffness of an iSUP actually come from?

Build quality & maximum pressure

The build quality is consistently high. Bluefin’s many years of experience in the SUP sector are clear here. There are no traces of adhesive anywhere. Both the EVA deck and all the accessory fittings on the SUP are neatly glued. The Bluefin Cruise has a premium quality that is not a given for a complete set costing under 400€. The maximum recommended pressure to which the board may be inflated is 18 PSI. However, the inflatable SUP was also tested at considerably higher pressure. For optimum performance on the water, it is sufficient to inflate the board to the recommended 15 PSI, as the air inside an inflatable board warms up and expands, especially on hot days.

Load capacity & stiffness

The high build quality is also evident in the stiffness test. Bluefin itself says that the SUP is ideally suited to heavier paddlers. We would agree with this without reservation. In our load test, the board bent by just 15 mm. Compared directly with other inflatable boards, this is genuinely an excellent result. It demonstrates the high build quality, the closely woven drop-stitch core and the resulting high level of stiffness. The Bluefin Cruise is definitely also suitable for paddlers weighing over 100 kg. It is also easy to paddle with 2 people at the same time, provided the weight is distributed somewhat across the board.

More information on load capacity and maximum rider weight can be found in our SUP FAQ, where we have also answered many other questions briefly.

Areas of use & handling

The Cruise is a true all-rounder and delivers exactly that in terms of handling: balanced performance that covers almost all areas of use with ease. An all-rounder is often recommended for beginners, especially when it is not yet entirely clear which direction they want to take in SUP. Thanks to its shorter length, it is incredibly manoeuvrable and can also be steered through tight turns without difficulty. The low board weight contributes to this as well. Even beginners can therefore perform turning manoeuvres easily. More experienced paddlers will find a kick pad at the rear of the board. This is an edge on the EVA deck that allows the nose of the board to be pushed out of the water, enabling very tight turns or 180-degree turns.

Maximum range of use

The standing area (EVA deck) measures 203 x 71 cm and provides a good grip. It is also positive that the EVA deck extends continuously all the way to the rear, so there is always grip when walking and moving backwards. The diamond texture ensures good grip even when the standing area is wet. The 9″ fin keeps the board surprisingly well on course and improves its straight-line tracking. The Bluefin SUP has a rocker, allowing smaller waves, such as those caused by boats or found at sea, to be paddled over more easily. This also increases manoeuvrability and handling when steering. It broadens the range of uses for this inflatable SUP and, with a little practice, it is also suitable for smaller waves at sea. Otherwise, it is a relaxed cruiser that is suitable both for a leisurely outing on a lake and for a short paddle on a river or at sea. With a board weight of under 10 kg, less force is needed to accelerate the board. For beginners, stability is always a decisive factor. With a board width of approx. 81 cm, this is ensured here. The board tapers slightly more towards the nose than other all-rounders and, partly due to the upturned nose, is marginally more prone to tipping than all-rounders with a wide, rounded nose. On the other hand, the Cruise has a more pleasant water release at the front when paddling straight, as not as much water presses against the SUP’s bow. Overall, the Bluefin Cruise offers exactly what is expected of an all-rounder. Beginners and more experienced paddlers will certainly get their money’s worth here.

Further special features / Features

The Cruise has five extra D-rings on the standing area for attaching accessories. For example, a kayak seat can be mounted here, making it even easier to paddle while seated. The extra carry handles at the front and rear make transport even easier. A 1/4 thread at the front allows, for example, an action camera to be attached. A special feature of the luggage bungee at the front is that it can also be easily removed. The previously mentioned kick pad rounds off the many features of the Cruise. The very long and flexible carry handle in the middle of the board is also noticeable, making the Cruise very comfortable to carry on land. The D-rings are fitted with reflectors, which are intended to increase safety.

Included accessories

The following accessories are included with the SUP board in the package contents:

  • SUP board
  • Carry rucksack
  • Double-action pump
  • SUP leash (Coiled)
  • Strap for securing, instructions
  • Dolphin fin (9″)
  • Repair kit (without glue)
  • Phone case and drinks holder (Donut)
  • optional (kayak seat & extra paddle blade)

The Bluefin Cruise is sold as a complete set and contains everything needed for paddling. Alongside the board, paddle and pump, it also comes with a leash (safety!), a phone case and various other small accessories. A kayak set is available as an optional extra and offers a very comfortable seat and an additional paddle blade, allowing the SUP paddle to be converted into a kayak paddle.

Paddle

An aluminium paddle is included as the SUP paddle. It has a large plastic blade and a plastic handle. It weighs 999 g in total and can be extended from 175-210 cm. It is therefore suitable for both smaller and taller paddlers. It is a three-part paddle that can be easily stored in the rucksack. The fastening on the paddle can be tightened without tools. In just a few simple steps, the paddle handle can be removed and replaced with a second paddle blade when using the kayak function. Thanks to its size, the paddle blade provides plenty of forward thrust with just a few paddle strokes. However, on longer paddling trips, the paddle is likely to feel somewhat heavier in the hand than comparable fibreglass or carbon paddles.

Pump

A high-quality double-action pump is included, making inflation easy. It has a handle height of approx. 59 cm and weighs approx. 1056 g. The handles are ergonomic, making it easy to apply pressure to the pump piston. The initial air is always pumped into the board in double-action mode (pulling up and pushing down). When it becomes more strenuous later on, a convenient lever can be used to switch to single-action mode. The SUP pump has a pressure gauge on the top, allowing the pressure to be recognised and read at a glance. Experienced and strong paddlers can inflate the board to a pressure of 15 PSI in under 10 minutes (inflation is only recommended up to this pressure – approx. 1 Bar). If you want to store the Cruise compactly again at the end, you can also pump the air out of the board by connecting the pump hose to the other opening.

Information on inflating inflatable Stand-Up Paddle Boards and on the valve and the correct valve position when inflating can be found in a detailed guide from us.

Other accessories

Fin

In the past, Bluefin always used its own fin system with small plastic clips. With the Cruise, however, it has now also switched to the popular US system, in which the fin is attached with a nut plate and a screw. This system is widely used and allows for straightforward and easy replacement if the fin or screw is ever lost. It is a slightly flexible plastic dolphin fin measuring 9″.

Rucksack

The backpack is a simple carry backpack without a trolley function. This means the board can only be transported on your back. At a total weight of around 15.2 kg, this is still manageable, particularly because the shoulder straps are nicely wide and padded. A chest strap for securing it keeps the shoulder straps in position and ensures the board sits comfortably on your back. At 90 x 47 x 24 cm (H x W x D), the backpack is not overly bulky and therefore does not press against your buttocks when carrying it. The shoulder straps are positioned correctly, and the other carrying handles also make handling the Bluefin Cruise backpack comfortable. All the accessories fit easily inside. It is constructed to a very high standard, both in terms of the zips and the material. Overall, the backpack stands out particularly for its surprisingly high level of comfort on your back, which compensates somewhat for the lack of wheels. The backpack also has a small additional pocket on the front, making it more convenient to store small pieces of equipment.

Leash

A high-quality coiled leash is included, increasing safety.

The supplied leash can be combined wonderfully with a waist belt. We love the waist leash because it is less intrusive and does not have to be attached to the ankle or calf. M ore information about the waist leash.

Kayak seat

We were provided with the kayak set for this test. The Cruise kayak seat is probably one of the most comfortable seats we have tested so far (as of May 2026). The seat base can be inflated, and the backrest is extra wide and tall, meaning that even tall people can sit and paddle very comfortably. The additional paddle blade can be attached quickly, converting the SUP paddle into a kayak paddle. The kayak seat on the Cruise is simply secured to the existing D-rings. Both the central D-rings and the front D-rings of the bungee cord can be used for this, as the latter are removable.

Conclusion

The Bluefin Cruise continues to impress in 2026 with its high-quality construction and rigidity. Thanks to the complete set, it offers a comprehensive package that should be particularly appealing to beginners and first-time users. Its balanced handling characteristics and simple handling on the water provide a feeling of security from the outset. The positive overall impression of the Bluefin Cruise 10.8 is rounded off by the 5-year warranty, which speaks for the quality of this inflatable SUP board. This year, too, we can only recommend the Cruise, particularly as the special offer price for this inflatable board is often below 400€. For the package on offer, we give it an unequivocal recommendation.
